the fourth week of NaBloPoMo is dedicated to Brazilian music. as today is cloudy and cold, we'll start with some bouncy tunes from the Tropicalia movement of the late 1960s.

Silvio Rodriguez wrote this song while he worked on the “Playa Girón” fishing trawler. The boat was named, and the song was written, in honor of the men who helped fight off the 1961 invasion at Bahia de cochinos, better known as Bay of Pigs.
Victor Jara was a Chilean teacher, singer, and poet. a couple of days after the coup d'etat that overthrew Chilean President Salvador Allende, Jara was arrested, tortured, and killed. the identity of those responsible has not been found.
in 1998, an album of Jara's songs, Tributo a Victor Jara, was released. here are a couple of tracks.
