you are right on, jaypo. one of the things that drives me the craziest about the whole thing. I wonder what it must have been like back in the 1850s for a Mexican family that had own their land for 6-8 generations to be told by soldiers of (likely) German/Scot/Irish/British/French descent, "get off our land! this is Texas now!"

We need to get off the concept of exclusion. We've always been a big melting pot of cultures. And at one time (oh, say, pre 20th century) knowing multiple languages was considered a part of an excellent education.
